My name is Matthew.
I have lived in Japan for nearly three decades, while maintaining my connection with my family village in Spain, and my work here in Japan is to accompany people who wish to experience Japan in a deep, human, and stress-free way.
I am not a conventional tour guide. I do not specialize in rushed itineraries or checklist-style sightseeing. My role is to be present as a cultural bridge, helping the journey become safe, meaningful, and truly understandable.
I work with travelers who: feel a genuine curiosity about Japan, value calmness and depth, wish to understand what they experience, not just observe it, and want to feel accompanied by someone who knows the country from the inside.
During the journey, I offer: continuous personal accompaniment, cultural and linguistic interpretation, practical support at key moments, guidance through social and emotional contexts, and a human pace that allows the experience to unfold naturally.
I work with individuals and small groups, tailoring each experience in a personalized way.
Some people travel with me throughout their entire journey; others prefer to share only certain days or pivotal moments.
My focus is not merely visual tourism, but encounter: with Japanese culture, with the people who live it, and often, with oneself.
This work is part of a broader project called Lazos Campillo, dedicated to creating meaningful human experiences between Japan and Spain, rooted in authenticity and connection.
If this way of traveling resonates with you, I would be happy to have a relaxed, no-obligation conversation to see whether I might accompany you on your journey through Japan.
